ELECTA - Muffatees in Two Colors
Electa was adapted from a pattern described in The Workwoman’s Guide by A Lady, published in 1838. Muffatees were worn by 19th century women to help keep their hands warm in the cold temperatures of the home in winter. Today they perform just as well for us! They are also warming when worn with gloves or mittens out-of-doors.

Two choices of colorwork stitch patterns are included in this very easy and quick-to-knit pattern. Electa has a comfortable, non-binding garter stitch cuff. This project is ideal for using up small amounts of stash yarn. Pattern requires the following skills: working in the round in small circumferences, stranded colorwork.
Finished Measurements
In Two-Colored Rib Stitch pattern, circumference 5 3/4"/14.5cm(6 1/2"/16.5cm) and 4"/10cm(4 1/2"/11.25cm) long.
In Two-Colored Chain Stitch pattern, circumference 5 3/4"/14.5cm(6 1/4"/15.75cm) and 3 5/8"/9cm(4 1/8"/10.5cm) long.
Circumference measures approximately the same size as wrist, close-fit but not tight. Muffatees stretch easily over the hand.
Yarn Jamieson’s of Shetland Spindrift (100% Pure Shetland Wool, 115yds/105m per 25g skein); MC:37yds/34m(51yds/47m), 11g(14g), CC: 28yds/26m(37yds/34m), 9g(11g).
Both stitch patterns use approximately the same amount of yarn. When substituting yarn, it is recommended that a fingering weight yarn be chosen.
Needles US 3/3.25mm: as preferred for working small circumferences in the round. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
